Happening / Performance
Today’s motorways are like new avenues that criss-cross “natural” territory shaped into the new green spaces of inhabited land.
They are like race tracks that tear across the land connecting different cities, which tend to create a new limitless and gigantic metropolis. These avenues are built into the landscape by tearing away at the earth, creating lines that no longer “run” between buildings and façades, but, rather, between huge masses of stratified land.
”Racing Landscapes” takes place within this universe. A project that applies the direct connection the body makes with the concept of manipulation, speed and territory.
Promoting lines, shapes, objects and manipulated and manipulable images, rescued from a narrative brought on by movement, on a spectral stage which, today, serves as our road. On a trip, in a race, at high speed and driving an “automobile” in perpetual movement, what we see provokes the mind, which tends to have a distorted view of reality.
Based on these concepts, we’ve created a performance-happening, where the representation of “landscape and toy” is transformed from its original state, departing from stable, established and homogeneous boundaries. Thought of as something expansive, like an interactive (topography?) system that separates from its main interface, and designed as a platform during and for manipulation.
